Millennials: The Power Is In Your Hands. Use It.

Full length of young men and women holding cellphoneNo, this isn’t an ad for a cell-phone company. But I know how you guys love to talk non-stop and use up the minutes. And here’s a way you can use those minutes to help this country for the better.

The message of this post goes to you, the hip, young care-free tech-oriented crowd pictured at the right. I was you a generation ago. Only I didn’t have the cell phone. I had no worries. I could look forward to a decent, robust future and a job I could probably count on being there for quite a long time.

But what I need to make you realize is;

Obama has given away your future, and the future of your kids and grandkids. And most probably even further down the line that that.

He’s mortgaged the US to the hilt. By using fiat money (printing with nothing to back it up) and selling our souls to China who is now our biggest creditor. The US debt as/of the writing of this post was:

debtiv

That’s trillion dollars and it changes every second. This is money you owe. Soon it’s predicted our debt will overtake our GDP (gross domestic product) which is the market value of the goods and services made within our borders in a year. Interest rates on government debt will have to rise to attract investors and that means inflation knocking on the door.Those trendy clothes you love will be more expensive. So will tech products and going out to eat or to see a movie. Just hanging and having a couple of beers will cost more. And no one wants that right?

Let’s put this all into perspective. As you can see by the table below Mr. Obama has tripled our deficit his first year in office.

Non-partisan CBO US deficit comparisons, triples under Obama

So what does this mean for you and our future generations? If you look at this debt clock you’ll see if you are a taxpayer (upper left hand corner) your portion of the US debt is $118,567. And that also changes every second. The total US debt is a staggering $56 trillion. This debt is much higher than the red figure above because this debt contains our Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid obligations that haven’t been paid out yet and other financial responsibilities as well.

Don’t you agree we need to make some changes fast to protect your future and that of your descendants? This blogger feels it’s criminal to pass on debt to future generations.

Change is easy. Make your voices heard! You have the energy and the drive and the enthusiasm to round up friends and acquaintances. Put those cell phones to work! I know you all have unlimited minutes. You have more power than you think. It’s summer. Take a few hours a week, get some friends together with pizza and call your Congressional representatives. I’ll make it easy for you, here is the link to all of them state by state. Unfortunately they have banker’s hours so it will have to be M-F during the day. Click on any of their names and all their offices and contact info will pop up. If you aren’t registered to vote, voting is a privilege that should be utilized by every US citizen. We need to turn up the heat on Congress to motivate them to rein in their spending in any way possible and to protect your future.

After all, you don’t want that i-Pad to go up in price. And you certainly don’t want that Max Mara dress or jacket to balloon in price out of your range.

The power of your vote and the power of organizing and “getting out the vote” by making sure your neighbors, relatives and friends are registered and actually go to the polls is an under utilized tool in this country. Show people a copy of this post. Send them the link. Explain what our out-of-control spending is doing to our future. Vote for those you are confident will advance an agenda for this country that is fiscally responsible. Here’s a great way to get started. America Speaking Out. A new initiative for debate and a way to interact with Congress and learn about the issues.

The power is in your hands. Use it.
